There are few people on this earth who haven’t at least heard of Iron Maiden. Formed in 1975, the band has been hailed as the pioneers of the new wave of British heavy metal and paved the way for bands to follow. They are frequently cited as influences of other very notable bands, such as Avenged Sevenfold, Anthrax, and Slayer. In this same vein, one of the most recognized and hailed heavy metal songs out there is Iron Maiden’s, ‘The Trooper.’ This song is based on the Charge of the Light Brigade, and has produced the most iconic Iron Maiden t-shirt there is.
The Trooper, a classic Iron Maiden tshirt
The artwork for the Trooper once again features Eddie as a soldier on a battlefield. Wielding a sword and a tattered British flag, he appears to be marching forward with a grimacing look plastered across his face. Reminiscent of the lyrics themselves, the graphic is emblematic of the struggles of battle. This makes it a classically awesome Iron Maiden tshirt, which has gained popularity among fans of all ages. This Iron Maiden tshirt is available in a full color graphic, but also in several other renditions of the same classic image.
The use of the Trooper in Northern Ireland
The image on this classic Iron Maiden tshirt has also been used as the unofficial mascot of the Ulster Freedom Fighters in Northern Ireland. Although Eddie is shown with a tattered Ulster Defence Association as opposed to the Union Jack, it is unmistakably the same logo. This demonstrates the far reaching implications of the image and indicates the world wide popularity of this Iron Maiden t-shirt.
