Children of Bodom are a metal band from Espoo, Finland.

There is some contention regarding the band's genre classification, but in general the band's musical style can be described as a cross between melodic death metal and power metal (with some concluding this tag only includes their earlier works).

Their name came from the Lake Bodom murders in Finland.

On the night of June 4, 1960, four teenagers were camping on the shores of Lake Bodom when an unknown person murdered three of them with a knife and wounded the fourth.
