Dimmu Borgir started as a melodic black metal band in 1993.
Formed by Shagrath, Silenoz, and Tjodalv, the band released an EP in 1994 entitled "Inn i evighetens mørke" ("Into the Darkness of Eternity" in English).
In Sorte Diaboli (incorrect Latin for "In Direct Contact With Satan"; the Latin literally means, "in the lot of the Devil" or "in the chance/fate/destiny of the Devil") is the seventh studio album by Norwegian black metal band Dimmu Borgir, and is the band's first concept album.
A site on the Nuclear Blast website was created for In Sorte Diaboli, in which a new promotional photo can be seen and an audio sample can be heard.
