Dead Kennedys In God We Trust Poster (Giant size, rolled) (60 X 44)
The Dead Kennedys are a hardcore punk band from San Francisco, California.
During the 1980s, the band gained a large underground following in the international punk music scene. Their music mixed the more experimental elements of English 1970s punk with the raw energy of the 1980s American hardcore punk scene.
Dead Kennedys' songs mix the deliberately shocking lyrics of punk with a humorous, acerbic, satirical, and sarcastic left-wing commentary on current social and political issues.
At the same time, some of their songs also mocked the hypocritical stances of some liberal elites. Many of the band's songs criticize the right-wing ideologies of the religious right and the Ronald Reagan administration, along with many far-left personalities and ideas.
The music was a constant jack-hammer propelled by the punk guitar minimalist (virtuoso, some claim) East Bay Ray, Klaus on bass and DH on drums. Jello Biafra was the statesman/piper of the times with his prolific writings, concerts & fanzine work. They were all pretty nice guys too, friendly & community spirited to kids from other cities, states & countries.
Some ugly stuff has followed including court cases among ex-band members over royalties & control of the name "Dead Kennedys" begging the question: does anyone else see the irony?
We love the Dead Kennedys music and this poster kicks ass!
