Nine Inch Nails is the brainchild of industrial metal’s jack of all trades, Trent Reznor! He’s a musician, producer and prestigious award winner, having earned a Grammy and an Academy Award for his original film scores! But let’s look back at the beginning of Reznor as we know him.
Trent Reznor started Nine Inch Nails as a solo project in 1988, when he was employed with Right Track Studios. His very first release under his new stage name was “Pretty Hate Machine”, which included the single “Head Like a Hole” and became a commercial success! Since then, the one man band has release eight full-length studio albums, including “The Downward Spiral”, Nine inch Nails’ highest selling album. While recording this album, Reznor lived in one of the mansions where the 1969 Manson Family murders took place, specifically the home of Sharon Tate. Though this group started as a solo project, there are now three regular members other than Reznor, and recently wrapped up a 2014 tour with Soundgarden!
